Anne Heche and her Men in Trees co-star James Tupper have shacked up in Vancouver after hooking up on set last January. "We are just exploring our relationship and it has been going very well," Tupper told a Vancouver paper. "Where is it going? I don't know. Ask me again in a year." As for living in Canada, the actor says, "Canadians are so respectful, they really leave us alone a lot. We have experienced nothing but generosity and openness." Before heading to their new home in Vancouver to work on the second season of the show, Tupper and Heche spent three and a half months in LA with Heche's 5-year-old son Homer. "He is unbelievable," Tupper says of Homer. "We had a cast baseball game on the weekend and he came off and slugged it over the short stop. He has got a preternatural swing." Tupper insists that he and Heche maintained clear boundaries while they were both in relationships with other people. "In that friendship, we kind of discovered we saw the world in a somewhat similar way," he says. "I think we both made decisions that were based on the relationships we were in." Of Heche, Tupper says, "I wish people could meet her in person. She has such a sparkle and such a love for people and she works so hard. She is so dedicated to all the good things."
Keira's not so comfortable with fame
Keira Knightley is still bewildered by the widespread interest in her looks. "Somebody goes, 'Gosh, you're pretty,'" Knightley told Radio Times. "Thanks. I've got good genes!... Okay, I'm on the cover of a magazine but somebody else does the hair, and the makeup, and airbrushes the f**k out of me - it's not me, it's something other people have created." Knightley says she can't comprehend people's fascination with wanting to be famous. "It frightens me when kids go, 'I want to be famous,'" she says. "Why? Because you can get into a restaurant? You know what? If you book [a table], you can get into a restaurant! 'I want to be rich and famous.' Go and work on the stock market." Of successfully suing a British paper over accusations she was anorexic, Knightley says, "You couldn't say anything more horrendous. So yes, I did take a hard line, and I would take that line again."
Lauren's new guy?
Is this Lauren Conrad's new man? The Hills star was spotted holding hands and making out with actor/dancer Sean Zastoupil over the weekend at Les Deux in Hollywood. "They met a couple of years ago at a fashion show in San Diego for Dieter Schmitz's charity event RH4T and just recently reconnected," said a source. Seriously? She couldn't do any better than this guy?
Janeane Garofalo to join 24
The political left and the political right will join forces on 24 this season. Janeane Garofalo, an outspoken liberal, is set to co-star on the conservative-leaning real-time drama, whose co-creator/executive producer jokingly describes himself as a "right-wing nut job." Garofalo will play a government agent who is part of the team investigating the crisis befalling Jack Bauer in the coming season. The lefty comedian is the second major cast addition to the drama, which is going through a revamping coming off a lackluster sixth season. Cherry Jones was tapped last month to play the new president.

KFed lands a job
Kevin Federline finally has a job - guest-starring on One Tree Hill. Reps for KFed and the CW network confirm that the former Mr. Spears will appear on a two-episode arc of the teen drama. Federline will play "Jason, the cocky, enigmatic frontman for 'No Means Yes,' a seminal rock band from the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina," according to the network. His character "gets booted from the band" before he can become a fixture on the show, however.

Mary-Kate's classmates sold stories to the tabs
In an interview with New York Magazine, Mary-Kate Olsen reveals that she ditched her courseload at NYU because she was spooked by classmates who were spying on her. Fellow students were selling stories to tabloids and working at glossies that were happy to receive dispatches from the classroom. "They'd have internships at the weeklies," Olsen says. "Learning is not fun if you're not safe." The diminutive twin didn't actually drop out - she's still enrolled and has only a year and a half to go until she earns a degree. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are in the midst of launching their fashion line, The Row.
Cameron and John have another date
Cameron Diaz and John Mayer added fuel to the rumors that they are a couple this weekend, with outings in NYC. The pair were reportedly "all over each other" and "super flirty" at the Bowery Hotel on Friday night. Sitting together on a couch in the back of the patio, Diaz and Mayer "were laughing and talking a lot," said an onlooker. Asked if the pair are dating, a source close to Mayer said, "Yes, it's definitely true." Reps for both celebs had no comment.
Lindsay back in the studio?
Lindsay Lohan is reportedly desperate to revive her singing career. Lohan, in rehab for the third time this year, wants to get back into the recording studio, according to insiders. She is due to deliver a third album for her label, and she has told her assistants that she wants to make it happen. "Lindsay loves music," says a friend. "She loves writing songs. She has let execs know she's ready to deliver the album." A music exec said, "A record by Lindsay Lohan costs almost nothing to make. She doesn't need a big band. You just give her some songs and session musicians. And, God knows, she already has name recognition." Maybe Lohan realizes she will be hard-pressed to find a film company willing to insure her given her behavior over the past year.
Nicole Kidman to star in Nazi film
Nicole Kidman and Ralph Fiennes are set to co-star on a Nazi drama from the filmmaker who directed her to an Oscar in The Hours. The Reader is set in postwar Germany and follows the story of Michael Berg, who is 15 years old when he begins a long, obsessive affair with Hanna, an enigmatic older woman. He never learns much about her, and when she disappears one day, he expects never to see her again. But to his horror, he discovers that she is a defendant in a Nazi war crimes trial, and it soon becomes clear that she is guilty of an unspeakable crime. Production is set to begin next month in Germany - maybe Kidman will run into her ex, Tom Cruise, who is there filming a Nazi flick himself.
Rumer keeps her feet on the ground
She may be friends with a who's who of Hollywood starlets, but Rumer Willis says she has great mentors to thank for keeping herself together. "I see a lot of situations that seems to me to be lacking a self-respect and a self-value where girls get drunk and they just kind of fall over each other," the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore says. "Unfortunately, when you know you're growing up and you are in this business, you don't really have the same ability to make mistakes and have it not be really detrimental. Honestly, it's been kind of making mistakes and figuring them out and having a lot of really great people as my mentors. I learned very quickly what kind of person I didn't want to be." Willis was in a hotel room when police arrested a man on drug charges last month, but says she's learned how to remove herself from bad situations. "It's really easy to say, 'Look people are doing something that I don't like and I don't want to be around. I'm gonna go,'" she said. When asked if she reads online blogs, Willis said, "I try not to. I used to a lot and it was really hurtful... There's obviously a lot of people that want to say that...I have some big trust fund. And it's so easy to judge people and put them down when you're not looking at them in the face."
Promises rehab served with subpoena
Kevin Federline's defense team delivered another subpoena yesterday morning for his upcoming custody trial against Britney Spears. KFed's lawyer confirms that Promises Treatment Center in Malibu was served yesterday morning, saying, "An executive administrator from Promises rehab facility was served with a subpoena." This is the fourth subpoena delivered by Federline's team in the singer's increasingly high-profile custody case. Earlier in the week, Spears's former assistant Shannon Funk, bodyguard Daimon Shippen and friend Alli Sims were served with legal papers. "Kevin an his attorneys...are on a mission," says a source close to the proceedings. "They are pursuing all relevant evidence from every potential source and available witness." A spokesperson for Promises refused to comment, saying, "This is a confidential facility and we cannot comment."
Wedding bells for Nicole and Joel?
Are Nicole Richie and Joel Madden engaged? After a late performance last night with Good Charlotte in Arlington, Va., Madden was walking offstage when a radio deejay announced to the crowd, "He got engaged yesterday! Congratulations, Joel!" Madden quickly glanced back over his shoulder but was otherwise unresponsive. "We heard this morning," the radio host told People mag. Saying he got the news from "good sources," the deejay said he'd offered congrats to Madden earlier in the night. "He said, 'Thank you so much.' They're very excited about the baby and the wedding. They want to keep their personal life personal."

Brit's lawyer close to resigning
Even Britney Spears's attorney is tired of her. According to TMZ, sources close to the divorce case say Laura Wasser is about to resign as the popstar's lawyer. Wasser sealed the deal on Spears's divorce from Kevin Federline last month, and has reportedly put her in touch with other lawyers who could help in her ongoing custody battle.
