Bruce Montgomery's new collection for Daks began in immaculately tailored style that almost touched on self-parody, so formal and icily precise the contours, blocking and colors seem, to say nothing of the umbrellas that dominated the early stages of the show. Yet, as the collection progressed, a lighter, more playful side started to emerge, with straight-faced absurdity including a white fur hat that would not be amiss in Polar climes (again, Montgomery might be thinking of global warming) and a pair of headphones so large that they'll act as an effective block to the outside world. As ever, the well-dressed man-about-town will be in clover.
