Cerruti

As with Jean-Paul Knott's first collection for the house of Cerruti, this time around the devil was in the details. Or actually, it was just devilishly hard to see the details on the runway. The mostly solemn offering -hues meandered from navy to black with a few sidetracks to burgundy, gray, and white- looked like the sort of clothes one would want to wear, but you found yourself wishing for the opportunity to inspect them up close. While smartly cut suits held their own well enough, Knott's raglan-sleeved peacoat with leather piping on the sleeve demanded a closer look. Same was true for the monochrome eveningwear with a double-notch lapel. You couldn't help but wonder if a darkened runway was the right stage for such delicately rendered clothes. Statement pieces were thrown in for visual stimulation -standouts included a huge, armorlike scarf that covered one model's entire torso and a ponyskin duffel coat- but the effect was a little random. The Beatles' "Come together" played in the background. In terms of presentation, Knott might've taken more inspiration from the song's title and less from John Lennon's haphazard lyrics.
