This season's collection is inspired by the mood and climate of the immediate aftermath of WW1, blended with the revolutionary energies of the punk movement of the late 1970s.
1920's Berlin with its "Glitter & Doom" art, a period of beauty and decadence, strong contrasts and extraordinary cultural vitality; the atmospheres captured by the Verist artists, particularly Otto Dix, Max Beckmann and George Grosz : a diverse, intriguing reality peopled by hookers, bawds, drug addicts, writers, trannies, soldiers and businessmen.
Anarchy, military symbolism, anti-establishment attitudes, places and occasions for meeting and sharing ideas : the tenets of the modern radicalism of the Roaring Twenties will be picked up, decades later, by punk. An overall mood which is here suggested in the collection by the choice of fabrics, cuts and proportions, and then further enhanced through a highly evocative scenography.
Tailoring and simplicity, clean silhouettes, painstaking and passion for details; a palette made of black, gray and white, with occasional hints of camel. The eveningwear's also important, featuring fine fabrics such as velvet, silk and lamé; here, amethyst and an intense nuance of darkest green also feature in the color range of this awesome collection by Dutch duo Tom Notte and Bart Vandebosch.
