"Premier de cordée " , which is a French mountaineering expression that means 'first on the rope', is the title of a novel by Roger Frison-Roche (1941) about an Alpine guide's failure and redemption. It is also the name French designer Marc-Antoine Barrois, 26, gave to his first Haute Couture pour Hommes collection and he admittedly did alot of thinking about this story while drawing his sketches. MAB imagined an elegant gentleman coming back from an expedition in the French Alps, possibly off Courchevel or Chamonix. Haute couture for men means Barrois wants to offer men the same service of exclusivity and high-end quality as women's. He welcomes his well-off clientèle in a private appartment in the heart of Paris. Each one-of-a-kind piece is tailor-made so that each client wears something unique. Pure sartorialism : kudos.
